Gather up is a free community events app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
When you sign in with Apple or with Google, we receive and store your name, email address, and profile photo, as provided by that account. We do not collect or store your password — sign-in is handled entirely by Apple or Google. You may also browse the app as a guest without creating an account.
When you use the app, we collect and store the content you create, including:
Your name and profile photo are shown to other members of groups and events you join or create, so they can see who they're interacting with.
Gather up asks for your device's location to show you groups and events near you, and to set the location of groups and events you create.
Your own location is used on your device only. We do not upload it, store it, or share it, and we cannot see where you are.
When you tap "Use my location" while creating a group or event, the coordinates of that group or event are saved to our database and shown to other users, so people nearby can find it. This is the location of the event or group — not a record of where you are.
Gather up never accesses your location in the background, only while you are using the app. You can refuse location access and still use the app; you will simply see all groups and events instead of only nearby ones. You can change this at any time in your device settings.
We use the information described above to operate the app's core features: letting you create and join groups, create and RSVP to events, find groups and events near you, and chat with other group members. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Your data is stored using Firebase (Firestore, Firebase Authentication, and Firebase Storage), a cloud hosting service provided by Google. Data is stored securely in accordance with Firebase's infrastructure and security practices.
Events are automatically removed from the app after their date has passed. Groups with no activity for an extended period may also be automatically removed. Your account data is retained until you delete your account.
You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the app. Deleting your account removes your sign-in credentials and associated personal data from our systems.
Gather up is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

You can grant or withdraw location access at any time in your device settings, on both iOS and Android.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
