Der Das Die Messenger is a German-language learning app that helps you practise the articles der, die and das through a friendly chat with a coach named Holly. We care about your privacy and have built the App to collect as little information as possible. This policy explains what the App does and does not do with data.

Short version: The App does not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email, or contacts. We do not show ads and we do not sell your data.

1. Information We Collect

The App is designed to work without a personal account. We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, photos, or location.

  • Learning progress — the words you have seen and your practice within the app are stored on your device so the App can quiz you. This stays on your phone.
  • Purchases — if you buy a word pack, the purchase is handled by Apple’s App Store or Google Play. We never see or store your payment details.

2. Word Packs (Cloud Content)

The App downloads word packs (pictures and words) from our content service hosted on Google Firebase. When your device requests this content, Firebase may automatically process standard technical information (such as your device’s IP address) as part of delivering the files. We use this only to serve the content — not to identify you.

3. Purchases

Paid word packs are one-time purchases processed by the App Store or Google Play. To keep track of what you have unlocked, we use a service called RevenueCat, which assigns your app an anonymous ID. This ID is not linked to your name or email and is used only to remember which packs you own and to restore purchases if you reinstall the App.

4. Notifications

If you allow notifications, the App schedules gentle reminders (little quizzes from Holly) directly on your device. These reminders are created locally on your phone — no message content is sent to us or any server.

5. What We Do Not Do

  • We do not display advertising.
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your information.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.
  • We do not require you to sign in or share personal details.

6. Children’s Privacy

The App is a general-audience educational tool. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not require an account and does not collect personal data, it can be used safely by learners of all ages.

7. Third-Party Services

The App relies on these trusted services, each with its own privacy policy:

  • Apple App Store / Google Play — for downloading the App and processing purchases.
  • Google Firebase — for delivering word-pack content.
  • RevenueCat — for managing in-app purchases.

8. Data Retention & Your Choices

Learning progress lives on your device and is removed when you delete the App. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone’s settings. Because we do not hold a personal profile about you, there is no account for us to delete.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
