Privacy Policy — Gather up

Privacy Policy for Gather up hub

Last updated: 18 October 2026

Gather up hub is a free community events app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

When you sign in with Apple or with Google, we receive and store your name, email address, and profile photo, as provided by that account. We do not collect or store your password — sign-in is handled entirely by Apple or Google. You may also browse the app as a guest without creating an account.

When you use the app, we collect and store the content you create, including:

  • Groups and events you create, including their titles, descriptions, categories, and locations you enter
  • Your membership in groups and your RSVP status for events
  • Messages you send in group chats
  • A profile photo, if you choose to upload one

Your name and profile photo are shown to other members of groups and events you join or create, so they can see who they're interacting with.

Location

Gather up asks for your device's location to show you groups and events near you, and to set the location of groups and events you create.

To show public events near you (concerts, shows, sports and more), the app sends your current location and the name of your city to our server. Our server uses it only to look up events from Ticketmaster and passes Ticketmaster your location, not your name or account. We do not save your location or link it to you. We only keep the list of events for each city for up to 24 hours, so the next person in the same city gets it faster.

When you tap "Use my location" while creating a group or event, the coordinates of that group or event are saved to our database and shown to other users, so people nearby can find it. This is the location of the event or group — not a record of where you are.

If you turn on "Notify me about events near me" (in the Profile tab, or by tapping Yes when the app asks), we save your rough area, rounded to about 1 km and never your exact position, so we can notify you when someone creates a new event within 50 km. This saved area is private: other users cannot see it. Turning the setting off, or deleting your account, deletes it.

Gather up never accesses your location in the background, only while you are using the app. You can refuse location access and still use the app; you will simply see all groups and events instead of only nearby ones. You can change this at any time in your device settings.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to operate the app's core features: letting you create and join groups, create and RSVP to events, find groups and events near you, and chat with other group members. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Data Storage

Your data is stored using Firebase (Firestore, Firebase Authentication, and Firebase Storage), a cloud hosting service provided by Google. Data is stored securely in accordance with Firebase's infrastructure and security practices. Nearby public events are provided by Ticketmaster.

Data Retention

Events are automatically removed from the app one week after they start. Groups with no activity for 30 days are automatically removed. Your account data is retained until you delete your account.

Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the app. Deleting your account removes your sign-in credentials and associated personal data from our systems.

Children's Privacy

Gather up is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your Choices

You can sign out or delete your account at any time from the Profile tab.

You can also revoke Gather up's access to the account you signed in with:

  • Apple: open Settings on your device, tap your name, then Sign in with Apple, select Gather up, and choose Stop using Apple ID.
  • Google: visit your Google Account permissions page and remove Gather up.

You can grant or withdraw location access at any time in your device settings, on both iOS and Android.

You can turn notifications about events near you on or off at any time in the Profile tab.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
